Soldering

The melting point of Lead-free solders is approximately 40 deg C higher than conventional tin/lead solders. It can take slightly longer to make a good soldered joint using Lead-free solder.

Lead-free solders are more aggressive thus eroding the plating on the soldering iron tip more quickly than conventional tin/lead solder.

To increase tip life a new plating process has been used with our tips to give much greater protection. These new tips have an L in the part number to indicate that they are for Lead-free solder.
